CEBUANO International Master Richard Bitoon, Negrense IM candidate Nouri Hamed, national masters Jerry Nodado and Rhobel Legaspi and head coach Dr. Alfredo Paez left the country yesterday to spearhead Laguna-Evertel Chess Team when the 27th Astro Merdeka Rapid Team Chess Championships gets going today, August 18 to 19 at the Cititel Midvalley Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
According to Dr. Paez, Laguna-Evertel Chess Team will be pitted against the best chess teams in Southeast Asia and also aims to get a possible norms/ results (FM, IM, or GM)
The team is supported by Laguna Governor Teresita "Ningning" Lazaro and Evertel Enterprises manager Belen Urbina.
