QUEZON CITY DISTRICT 3 CHESSFEST SET

THE registration of District 3 elimination round of Quezon City Inter Barangay Chess Team Tournament is now on full swing at the office Quezon City majority floor leader and councilor Ariel Inton.

Barangay Quirino will host the district 3 meet on February 16-17 in Quezon City.

" We're encouraging and inviting all barangays in District III to take part in this event, which is held as part of Sports Tourism program of the City," said Inton, a well known sports advocate.

Inton added that the top five barangays in District III will join the top finishers in the other three districts in the tournament proper scheduled May 17-18 at the Amoranto Theather Arts along Sgt. Chuatoco St., Quezon City.

At stake in the grand championships are trophies and cash prizes put up by Inton in close cooperation with QC mayor Sonny Belmonte and Eurotel, with the champion team getting the lion's share of P20,000 plus trophy.

The runner-up will receive P10,000 and trophy and the third placer will pocket P5,000.

Last January 19, Barangay Mariana under chair Regina San Miguel topped the district IV elimination with 22.5 points.

Four other barangays—Old Capitol (20.5), Santol (19), Tatalon (17.5), and Dona Aurora (17)-also made it to the tournament proper. All five barangays also earned P2,000 each.
