It’s all systems go for the 2013 National Youth Chess Championships Standard Competition on September 27 to 29 at the Philippine Sports Commission Conference Room, Administration Bldg., Vito Cruz, Manila.
The tournament is open to all youth players (15 years old and below), who are members in good standing of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).
Participants will compete in 10 – 15 Years Old (Boys & Girls) – born not earlier than January 1, 1998 and not later than December 31, 2003 and 9 Years Old & Below (Boys & Girls) – born on or after January 1, 2004.
Participants must submit a copy of his/her birth or baptismal certificate as proof of age.
A Five (5) Rounds Swiss System format will be apply with the the top two (2) boys and top two (2) girls from the following categories shall advance to the Grand Finals:
15 yrs. old & below, 13 yrs old & below, 11 yrs. old & below, 9 yrs. old & below and 7 yrs. old & below.
The three-day tournament will feature outstanding chess talents in the region who will vie for the qualifying slots in the national finals set in Manila.
Winner in the grand finals will have the privilege to represent the country in the 2013 World Youth Chess Championships on December 17 to 24 in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates.
The winners will also receive prizes and medals from the organizing National Chess Federation of the Philippines in close cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee.
Tasked to supervise the competition is NCFP Executive Director GM Jayson Gonzalez with Iinternational Arbiter Gene Poliarco as chief arbiter.
