RP GM MARK PARAGUA SHARES TOP HONORS IN CONNECTICUT CHESS

FILIPINO GM Mark Paragua trounced Mongolian FM Tegshsuren Enkhbat in the sixth round to share the lead along with four others in the ongoing 2008 Foxwoods International Open Chess Championships yesterday in Connecticut, USA.

The New York based Paragua notched five wins and one loss after six games of play, the same output of GM Yury Shulman, GM Julio Becera, GM Alexander Ivanov and GM Darmen Sadvakasov, the conqueror of Paragua in the third round.

Meanwhile, California based FM Rico Salimbagat drew with US bet FM Kazim Gulamali to raise his total 3.5 points and climb into a tie for 26th to 52nd placers in the Open division event which attracted 121 woodpushers.
