FILIPINO International Master Angelo Young turned back American Seth Homa to finish in a tie for 3rd to 5th placers in the just concluded 17th Midwest Class Chess Championships was held in Wheeling, Illinois, USA.
The former RP junior champion accumulated with 3.5 points in five outings, the same output of Russian GM Dmitry Gurevich and American IM Ben Finegold.
Former US Open champion GM Yuriy Shulman of the United States bested fellow GM Nikola Mitkov of Macedonia to finish clear first with 4.5 points, half point ahead with solo second place and local bet Alexander Stamnov with 4.0 points.
